Some people are so scared talking in front of crowds even their peers and it's normal but being able to be confident when public speaking is an important life skill. A reason why it's an important life skill is that when you're older quite a few jobs include speaking in front of people so to be confident in speaking makes you speak better and clearer and you aren't so scared. Examples are like politicians they have to speak in front of heaps of people and they were probably scared to speak in front of others but they practiced and eventually over time grew more confident in speaking. So I think that yes being confident to speak in front of others is important and neccessary.

Making Afghans
Hello, readers on Friday period 4 Shikarn and I made Afghans.
Shikarn creamed the butter and sugar making it smooth and creamy. Then I got the flour and the cocoa powder and sieved it into the big bowl. We firstly preheated the oven to 180 degrees celsius and on bake. Make sure you preheat the oven otherwise the afghans won't turn outright. We then mixed the wet and dry ingredients together and whisked them. We then put them onto the oven tray which had baking paper over it.
We took them out after 15 minutes but we thought we should have kept them in more because they were really crumbly and soft we had underestimated the amount of time so when we took them out the bell had gone. While they were in the oven we started to make the icing so we got a bowl and poured hot water into some butter. Then Shikarn mixed together icing sugar and cocoa powder and poured that hot water and butter over it. We then put the icing on the afghans but it almost instantly melted because the afghans were still hot from the oven.
My stakeholders and I then found out that the afghans had gone hard but still crumbly. I thought they were delicious with the icing and grated coconut so it made it not so dry and even yummier. My stakeholders said this "I thought they were really crumbly but really good they were a bit dry and there wasn't much icing."
Some changes we could've made are maybe quicker at the start because we were really slow and that's why the icing melted and also it might've been nice if we added chocolate chips instead of cornflakes.
Here is the method.
Preheat the oven to 180ºC. Grease or line a baking tray with baking paper.
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Sift flour and cocoa. Stir into creamed mixture. Fold in cornflakes.
Spoon mounds of mixture onto the tray, gently pressing together.
4. Combine Icing Sugar with 1 Tbsp of Cocoa Powder
5. Add 50g butter and pour hot water. Mix together.
6. Bake for 15 minutes or until set.

Week 8 - Do Now
New Zealand says they're trying to embrace Maori and resurrect the dying language so what better way to embrace Maori than having a public holiday for their new year. There are a few reasons why I think we should have a public holiday for Matariki like we've got a holiday for our new year so shouldn't it be the same for Maori. When you've got a public holiday kids are stoked and happy so they'll find out about Matariki instead of carrying out normal business like they do at school. So in my opinion, Matariki should and will be a public holiday in New Zealand.

Apple cinnamon pastries.
The apple cinnamon pastries was a really easy recipe it contained apple, sugar, pastry sheets, and cinnamon. The texture was beautiful and Shikarn and I made them to perfection and it tasted like perfection.
Open top savouries
The open-top savories were a nice recipe to make with having to fry them instead of cooking them like we usually do. I cant really remember them because it was so long ago but I do remember the texture was fabulous and the taste was even better so I give it a 9/10

Week 8 Do Now
Do most of you like English, no. But is it important, yes, in fact, I think it's the most important subject in school. I think that because you use English for everything. You use it for English of course but you also use it in every single class you take including maths. You use it because when you get older most of the jobs people get you to need to write and read. So I know most of you might not like English but I think you know as well that it's the most important subject in school.

Debating Words
Hi readers, today in English Period 1 we are learning about debates and so we have 5 words to define in our own words.
Debating: People stating their reasoning and disagreeing with each other.
Pro vs Con: The upside vs the downside so why it's good and why it's bad.
Proposition: Something that's good that fits with what you're debating about.
Opposition: A downside that's got something to do with what you're debating about.
Order of debate: Different roles each team member has so the first upside, then the first downside, then the second upside and so on until the third downside.

Behaviour Reflection
Hi readers, in English Period 5 we are doing a blog on our behaviour reflection sheet so I have to choose 1 behaviour from CARR Column and reflect that I've been doing well on it. After that, I then choose 2 that I haven't been doing well at and reflect upon them.
I know my timetable so that I know exactly where I need to be and what period I need to be there.
I blog to share my learning so that my teacher can see what I've been up to and do the work she's set me.
I encourage and include my classmates so that when we're doing something and I see someones struggling with something I help them.
My phone is always off and out of sight because I do not need it during school time.
I'm not always focused on my tasks and can get easily distracted so I need to fix that up by moving somewhere else if they're distracting me.
I don't really believe in myself and is often surprised by myself and I can fix that up by knowing more of my ability.
Week 6 - Do Now
To me, my name isn't very important to who I am because everyone's got a name and some can be common like mine but everyone's unique so having a common name doesn't really mean much. If my name was important to me and said who I was then it'd just mean that I'm boring because Jack is a very boring name and heaps of people are called Jack so it'd mean that I'm not really unique. So in conclusion, a name doesn't say much about a person it's just something that's there.

Health Week 6
Today we did 2 rotations of games. My group consisting of Alazae, Matangi and I did Uno first. Then Connect 4. We worked well for both games and had good verbal communication explaining to Alazae how to play UNO.
The IP I used was Verbal Communication when explaining the rules. I used warm fuzzies when I was congratulating my teammates if they did something good.
It helped with the success of the activity because we were able to squeeze more than one game of each.
We would start sooner because we only got in two activities.
4 because I was congratulating people helping people and being a team player.
