New Zealand says they're trying to embrace Maori and resurrect the dying language so what better way to embrace Maori than having a public holiday for their new year. There are a few reasons why I think we should have a public holiday for Matariki like we've got a holiday for our new year so shouldn't it be the same for Maori. When you've got a public holiday kids are stoked and happy so they'll find out about Matariki instead of carrying out normal business like they do at school. So in my opinion, Matariki should and will be a public holiday in New Zealand.
